After 11 years of hosting the British Council New Directions in Language Assessment conference across East Asia, Latin America and wider Europe, we’re excited to be bringing this significant event in the language education calendar to sub-Saharan Africa for the very first time! 

The conference starts on the evening of Tuesday, 24 September, with an opening talk and short discussion, followed by a welcome reception event at which the audience will have the opportunity to meet other participants as well as invited speakers and experts in the field of language education. This will be followed by two full days of conference proceedings including: 

  • Four plenary sessions 
  • Three panel discussions 
  • 30 parallel paper presentations 
  • Two spotlight sessions 
  • Two workshops
